KUWAIT CITY(IAMINKUWAIT): The 20th World Congress of Accountants (WCOA) kicked off on Monday in Sydney, Australia, with the participation of Kuwait’s State Audit Bureau (SAB) headed by Chairman Adel AlSar’awi.
SAB’s Chief auditor of the performance control department Aisha Al-Kanderi said in remarks to KUNA that taking part in such an international conference came to boost SAB’s efforts in the global arena and to exchange information and expertise with accountants worldwide.
SAB is taking part in lectures and workshops held on the sideline of the conference in various fi elds related to auditing, Information Technology, quality control, governance and risk management, she said.
More than 6,000 participants from more than 130 countries are gathering during the threeday conference to shed light on the international developments and review the current shifts in social, political, and technological domains.
SAB took part in WCOA back in 2014 that was held in Rome, Italy. The event is organized under the auspices of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).
Meanwhile, Kuwaiti physician Dr Meshl As’ad AlJarba gained a patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Offi ce (USPTO) for his invention that works in facilitating surgeries and limiting the possibility of medical errors.
Dr Al-Jarba said, in remarks to KUNA, that his invention was a surgical tool used as a protection shield against unintentional mishaps during otorhinolaryngology and endoscopic surgeries.
This invention will facilitate the task of surgeons in performing procedures, decreasing risks to the patient’s body tissues, he said.
This invention, which is called Shield for Electrosurgical Suction Coagulator, also helps amateur surgeons to improve their skills, he said.
Al-Jarba expressed his thanks to Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity (SAGC) for all the care it offers to Kuwaiti inventors in various specialties.
He praised the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah of Kuwaiti inventors in various domains, and highly endorsed the distinguished efforts by SAGC.
