Kuwait City (IAMINKUWAIT): Domestic workers of Kuwait will be asked to travel back to Kuwait next week informed the Philippines officials. The news was informed by the Philippines Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III during a senate hearing in the Philippines capital yesterday.

The new guidelines for the deployment of household service workers to Kuwait will also be issued. The total ban on the recruitment of Philippines workers to Kuwait was lifted on May 2018 after signing a memorandum of understanding between the two nations. The Philippines had stopped sending workers to January after finding the body of a Filipina worker in a Kuwait apartment.

Both the sides have agreed on certain conditions while signing the memorandum. The workers will have the right to retain their passports and to reject if they are facing a transfer of sponsor. The workers had also given a demand to know any criminal records of the employers but Kuwait rejected the demand telling that they won’t allow anyone with criminal records to recruit a worker. Kuwaiti authorities have also asked Philippines officials to consider giving the opportunity of recruiting to Kuwait agencies especially the government backed Al-Durra company.
