Kuwait(IAMINKUWAIT):The doctors at the Kuwait Health Ministry have successfully transplanted a liver to a chronic liver patient in Kuwait , said the minister. It was a joint venture between the Kuwaiti and British doctors in the government run  Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital, Health Minister Sheikh Bassel Al-Sabah said in a interview. The transplanted liver was taken from a brain-dead donor after the authorities received permission from the deceased family. It happened due to an agreement between the ministry and Liver transplant unit of Kings College Hospital in London , said the minister .

The agreement is a platform to undertake more transplants in the coming years and by training the surgeons to perform the tasks. King’s Liver Transplant unit runs the largest transplantation programme in Europe, carrying out more than 200 procedures an year.
