Kuwait Backs UN Efforts To Resolve Libyan Crisis

Mansour Al-Otaibi said that Kuwait will spare no action to ensure the unity of the council, to resume the peace and stability of Libya.

Kuwait (IAMINKUWAIT) : Kuwait in the meeting with the Security council to discuss the situation in Libya, gave its full and firm commitment to support all the efforts of United Nations efforts to end crisis in Libya. This was made clear in a speech by the Permanent Representative of Kuwait to the United Nations Ambassador Mansour Al-Otaibi during a session in the UN Security Council to discuss the situation.

He said that Kuwait has a plan of action for Libya which will amend the Libyan Political agreement. He said that they will organize a national conference, prepare for the elections and provide humanitarian assistance during the critical phase in the history of Libya.Al-Oitabi expressed appreciation for the Under-Secretary General for Political Affairs Jeffrey Feltman for his strenuous efforts during his visits to Libya. He pointed out that four months after Secretary General had presented the plan of action, positive signs and steps began to emerge in the political fabric of Libya. He hailed the efforts of the Special representative for Libya Ghassan Salama , which reflected the progress that has taken place recently. 

He said that Kuwait will spare no action to ensure the unity of the council, to resume the peace and stability of Libya. In the very same context, he stressed the need to comply with the provisions of paragraph 5 of Security Council Resolution 2259(2015).It declares the rejection of all attempts aimed at undermining the political process led by Libya and facilitated by the nations .

Al-Otaibi also valued the important role played by the Presidential Council of the National Reconciliation Government as well as the role of all Libyan leaders in promoting national reconciliation.
