First Kuwaiti Wheel Chair Basket Ball Tournament ends

Kuwait City(IAMINKUWAIT),Feb 6th :The first Kuwaiti wheel chair tournament will conclude today at the hall of Kuwait Disabled Sports Club.

 The club organized a three day tournament for the members. The first match of the final day will start at 4:00 pm, and the final day match will start by sharp 5: 30 pm, followed by the closing ceremony and distribution of prizes. Secretary General of the club , Abdullah Al-Azmi has invited the public to watch the tournament .The management has also gathered gifts for the spectators .

Al-Azmi says that the closing day will be blessed by the official presence and high level sports representation. He informed that the celebration of the club coincided with the days like the National Day, Liberation Day and 12th Anniversary of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s ascension to power .

He said that the tournament will provide opportunities for the players to play at tournaments in West Asia. He also hailed the support of Abdullah Al-Jasser , for his participation as the host .

The second day of the tournament saw the Lakers team defeating Olympics by 63/48 while Aboudka defeated the Liberation by 49/47. The Lakers obtained comfortable winning points in the tournament’s chart as it won all its matches with a huge margin, qualifying them to win the tournament’s title.

Also, the second day witnessed recreational competition for the crowd — male and female, which took place between the two matches. The women raced on the wheelchair and the men competed in shooting hoops while seated on wheelchairs.

Aboudka, the tournament sponsor, handed out cash prizes to the winners. He pointed out the competition was aimed at familiarizing the crowd of able people with the efforts needed by a disabled person to play on wheelchair and the value of their achievements in the sports for the disabled.
